CELEBRATE UNITY: The 2018 Minneapolis Urban League Unity Ball raises critical funds for our organization and honors those who champion our mission of equity, justice, and power for African descendants in the Twin Cities. The event will feature Valerie Castile (community activist, convener and mother of Philando Castile) as our Community Champion Award recipient and Donte Collins (Youth Poet Laureate of St. Paul and advocate for literacy and social justice) as our Truth and Justice Award recipient. Hip hop legend Grandmaster Flash will provide musical entertainment and Robyne Robinson will emcee the night. The gala evening includes as cocktail reception followed by a seated dinner, engaging program, fund-a-need auction, music, mingling and more.
DRESS FOR EQUITY: Guests are encouraged to dress to impress in business or cocktail attire with a dash of red to represent the Urban League’s iconic red equal sign logo. Whether you wear head-to-toe red or add just a dash with your accessories, you will show support for unity and equity. Can’t find a dash of red? Red lapel flowers and other dashes of red will be available for purchase at the ball.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE: Your attendance at the Unity Ball will support the Urban League and help thousands of African descendants in our community secure meaningful jobs, live healthier lives, advance educational goals for themselves or their children and achieve financial stability.
ABOUT US: Founded in 1926, the Minneapolis Urban League is an unapologetic and relentless advocate for equity, justice and power for African descendants. We envision a future in which African descendants are fully engaged, empowered and invested in the success and well-being of the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
